May is near again. The month of Fiestas. How I particularly remember attending Pahiyasin Lucban Quezon. Specifically the visit at Kamay ni Hesus.
Lucban’s such a wonderful place to visit. Cold weather. Warm and very affectionate people. And, full of gastronomic delights!
During our last visit, we stopped at a “pasalubong” shop in the town…otap, barquillos, lengua de gato, merengue…it’s a feast!
And to fill much of your gastronomic delights, here’s the popular Lucban Longganisa – meaty (said to contain less pork fat as they only use lean pork meat).
Longganisa dipped in garlicky and spicy vinegar? What else is there to say?
Afterwards, we were served these Suman Tamales, truly an native Filipino delicacy. A dessert and a complete meal in one banana leaf wrap. I missed to take photo of the Pancit Habhab. Yet we get to take home few packs. Also, would I ever forget the Tinapay Bonete, which we bought while walking in the streets of Lucban town. That Bonete is so popular maybe because of the colder climate – a perfect company for that hot coffee.
Another one not be missed (by guys of course) is these flavored Lambanog…
Before we headed home, we were given “bayong” (that’s my sister-in-law)
Bayong, which is quite pretty to bring for a stroll atop the Kamay ni Hesus shrine.
Bayong abounds because the LGU is strict in enforcing the town ordinance…
Hence, we’ve got no plastic for our “pasalubong” but packaged in brown bags and the cute “bayongs”. Nice.
Lucban is such a serene and peaceful town nestled at the foot of Mt. Banahaw. Their annual Pahiyas Fiesta is this May 15, feast of San Isidro Labrador.
Check out Plaza Rizal Hotel at the heart of Lucban town.
